Communication is the Key

Sister Communications — How important is communication to you and your sorors? What barriers have you had to face in communicating effectively with your sisters? Work together for better and more effective sister communications through several great Sigma Communication Tips.

Often, one's ability to clearly communicate will determine their ultimate success more than nearly any other attribute. A soror is not capable of reaching her Sigma potential without effective communications skills. When communicating with one another you can follow some very simple communication rules.

·         A good communicator has the ability to set a person at ease. She can find a way to relate to nearly anyone of any background, regardless of social status, title or position within the organization.

·         The fastest way to open the lines of communication is to smile. A smile overcomes innumerable communications barriers, crossing the boundaries of culture, race, age, class, gender, education, and economic status.

·          When sorors feel that their opinions are valued, they develop a sense of ownership in achieving the organizations goals; this kind of "ownership" cannot be bought at any price...it must be earned through respectful listening.

·         Often, non-verbal communication is more powerful than anything that's said verbally. True communicators understand this and can maintain a calm, internal confidence because they have worked hard, prepared for the tough moment, and have built on the successes of the past.

Communication with your sorors is most important in order to achieve the goals set forth by our founders. Imagine if our founders did not communicate, if not for communication Sigma would not be available to us.
Most importantly, sorors do not need to like one another in order to communicate effectively. It is the good communicator that removes all barriers in order to get the job done. All in all sister communications will allow Sigma to move forward with an open line of great communication.
